A 6-month warranty for accuracy is provided, and the watch comes with a dark reddish brown, snakeskin style 22mm genuine leather strap.

Key Features

This watch has been made with an original Ulysse Nardin pocket watch movement. The precious metal of the original case went to jewellery scrap many years ago, but the high-quality movement has been preserved in excellent condition. The movement and dial are original, as is the early ‘Ulysse Nardin’ signature. The finest numerals and hands have been crafted for this watch, and the enamel is perfectly preserved without restorations. The large case has been designed in a modern, up-to-date format, and fits comfortably on the wrist. The watch looks fresh, and the antique movement can be admired through the glass caseback.

The movement is an early type of a special advanced class (chronometer), a caliber based on a Jules Jurgensen billet with fine finishing of the bridges and the anchor escapement. The bridges have been merged, and gold overlays for stones have been added, with a total of 20 jewels in the movement.

Of particular note is the unusual anchor escapement with adjustable gold pins instead of an impulse jewel, the escapement is called a ‘Savage 2-pin lever escapement’. The ‘Savage’ escapement is sometimes found in ordinary and inexpensive English pocket watches, but it has practically never been used in Swiss watches. High-precision gold pins are more expensive than a thin ruby cut jewel made of scraps, but the big advantage of the escapement is the ability to slide and move these pins, adjusting the mathematical width of the impulse plane and fine tuning the escapement to the optimal angles. For all the time, the descent “Savage” has never come across in Swiss cars, and even more so in such a chic quality, most likely an experimental car for the English market.

The combination of the fine noble lines of the dial, the rare type, and the excellent preservation of the movement from the most famous Swiss brand, makes this watch a desirable piece for any worthy collection. The watch has been made as part of The Subscription Watch Project, and a 6-month warranty for accuracy is provided. This timepiece is very eye-catching on the wrist, thanks to an unusual open light face, the enamel dial, and the dark purple shade of the hands.

About Ulysse Nardin

Ulysse Nardin was founded in 1846 in the Swiss province of Le Locle, by the talented watchmaker Ulysses Nardin. Soon after the company started production, they began to concentrate on the creation of high-precision timekeeping devices, in particular marine chronometers, as well as complex watches containing minute repeaters, perpetual calendars, and chronographs. Keeping the jewellery and decorative component to a minimum, U. Nardin found that the formula for success in the art of precision mechanics was functionality, accuracy, and reliability.
