About Marvin
The Marvin Watch Company, founded in 1850 by Marc and Emmanuel Didisheim in Saint-Imier, moved to La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1894 and was renamed Albert Didisheim et Frères. Henri-Albert Didisheim focused on the American market and managed the company starting in 1895. The company, renamed Marvin in 1912, began making wristwatches while maintaining fine manufacture movements. In the 1930s, Marvin introduced the left-handed La Gauche model and the Nivrel trademark in 1936. Marvin formed alliances with major automotive and aviation brands in the 1940s and expanded its global reach by its 100th anniversary in 1950. Notable products included the “Flying Dutchman” for KLM pilots and the “Motorist” watch.
In 1976, Marvin joined the MSR Group but failed to transition to quartz technology, leading to its decline in the 1980s. Revived by Time Avenue in 2007, Marvin now produces midrange luxury watches using ETA and Valjoux movements, retaining its historic crown logo and red double marker at 8:00. Since 2015, Marvin has focused on Asian markets, particularly China.
