2.1091 CHAS E. JACOT 49mm CONVERSION REVERSE WINDING SWISS 1870s
£1,800.00
This rare Charles Jacot movement is an early and historically important example of crown-winding technology in transition, incorporating Jacot’s patented innovations from 1864 to 1870. The reverse-winding crown mechanism, deeply engraved full plate, jeweled chatons, and hand-finished steelwork reflect the output of a small but highly inventive Swiss atelier operating before the industrial standardization of keyless systems. It is both a collectible artifact of technical evolution and a beautifully preserved piece of 19th-century horological craft. True hand-made, top-grade independent horology back from the 1870s!
A key technical highlight is the early keyless mechanism visible on the plate:
Large, exposed winding wheels and pinions show Jacot’s developmental approach before keyless works were standardized under later patents.
The winding and setting infrastructure is mechanically open, allowing detailed inspection and making it a perfect study piece for collectors and horological historians.
The case for this movement has been built in Horological Underground workshop.
How to wind: Turn the winding crown counter-clockwise
How to set hands: Push and hold the pin-button at ‘4’ position, turn the crown to set hands forward.
The watch comes with a classical high quality 24 mm genuine leather strap. The movement is serviced with a 12-month warranty.
