A genuine Second World War British military issue Moeris A.T.P. wristwatch, with all the correct catalogue features: black Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, luminous military dial layout, fixed bars, stainless steel screw back, and the military Broad Arrow marking with A.T.P. engraving on the caseback.
The A.T.P. watches were the predecessors of the later “Dirty Dozen” W.W.W. watches and were supplied to the British armed forces by a group of Swiss manufacturers during the early war period. Moeris was one of the regular suppliers, and the Moeris A.T.P. is one of the most recognisable and successful examples of this military watch category.
The watch is in honest vintage military condition. The case shows heavy age-related wear, pitting, and surface marks, which are part of the history and character of this wartime piece. The dial has strong natural patina and visible ageing, but remains highly legible. The safe replacement lume has been aged to match the overall appearance.
The watch is fitted with a hand-made genuine leather strap in vintage military style, suitable for the fixed-bar case construction.
About Moeris and the A.T.P. watches
Moeris was a respected Swiss manufacturer, especially known for durable, practical wristwatches and military timepieces. The A.T.P. designation is generally understood as Army Trade Pattern, used for British military wristwatches supplied before the later W.W.W. specification. These watches were made as functional service instruments: simple, legible, manually wound, and robust enough for military use. Period A.T.P. examples are commonly found with Broad Arrow markings, Arabic numeral dials, subsidiary seconds, fixed bars, and compact cases of around 33 mm. The Moeris A.T.P. model is larger compared to A.T.P. watches from other makers.
