2.1260 OMEGA GENEVE 9K GOLD FOR ‘MLM TIMBER’, SWISS 1972
£1,080.00
A slim Omega Genève dress watch from 1972 in a proper, wearable 33.5 mm size, fitted with an English-made 9K gold case. The watch has a beautifully understated “corporate award” character: a clean, textured cream dial with crisp gold/black markers, a practical date at 3, and the warm glow that only vintage 9K yellow gold delivers.
What makes this example especially interesting is the MLM Timber Co. connection. “MLM” is understood as Montague L. Meyer, a well-known timber importing business of the era, and these watches appear consistent with long-service / award presentations – a classic 1960s–70s tradition where reputable firms chose respected Swiss brands and locally-cased precious metal for employee recognition.
UK-made Omega gold cases
This is a great example of Omega’s UK-market practice: while the movement and watch identity are Swiss Omega, the case was manufactured in the United Kingdom and then hallmarked locally. Inside the case you’ll find:
A sponsor/maker’s mark: the “S” trademark associated with Shackman & Sons, a British case-making firm These marks are not just “nice to have” – they are the core provenance of UK-cased Omegas, confirming the watch’s intended market, the precious-metal standard, and the legitimate local case manufacturer behind it.

Servicing and Warranty
Fully serviced with disassembly in our Bristol shop
Omega 1030-family movements use a crown quick-set:
Position 0 (crown pushed in): winding (manual wind by crown)
Position 1 (first click): quick-set date
Position 2 (second click): time-setting (hacking may or may not be present depending on variant)
On most examples quick date set will be one direction for date advance; the other direction may do nothing.
Avoid changing the date when the hands are anywhere near the date-change period (when the calendar mechanism is engaged). Safest hand positions to set date: keep the hands in the “daytime” zone: roughly 4:00 to 8:00.
