About Paul Jobin
The Paul Jobin watch company has a rich history dating back to the mid-19th century. The company was founded by Jean Joseph Constant and Augustin Jobin in Bois, Switzerland around 1848. The firm initially produced watches under various brand names, including Paul Jobin, Ajax, Furrow, Oranje, Cyp, Cypar, and Alac.
In 1947, the company built a new state-of-the-art factory and celebrated its centenary the following year. During this period, the company was known for producing watches with reasonable quality but not outstanding, using movements from various companies, including ETA.
The Paul Jobin company seems to have been taken over by Edox at some stage, and it appears that the company did not survive the quartz crisis. The watches branded as “Paul Jobin” are estimated to have been produced from around 1945 to 1970, making them worthy of interest for watch collectors.
