Key Features
This BWC Transi-Tronic from the 70’s has been in storage for most of its life. There is very little sign of wear, in fact the only thing on the watch with any sort of ‘patina’ is a sticker, presumably on some kind of stock reference, now yellowed and aged. The case is highly unique; rounded sides are contrasted by geometric chamfered edges on either end of the case body. Inside, the dial is a a cool, icy blue ‘Geneva striped’ pattern, which the light plays off in a particularly alluring way. Sitting at the 3 position is a day/date indicator, which has the abbreviated days in German. The movement, a ESA 9181 calibre, has a quickset date feature, which can be operated by pulling the crown out to the 1st position. Rotating upward sets the day, and downward sets the date.
About The Buttes Watch Company
The Buttes Watch Company (BWC) was found in 1924 by Mr. Arthur Charlet, in his birthplace, Buttes (Canton Neuchâtel). The “Val de Travers”, an aesthetic high-lying valley in Switzerland nearby the French border, is well known for watchmakers in the 18th Century. After the economic crisis in 1923 which Switzerland was also oppressively affected, he founded courage to pioneer as a watch manufacturer.
