The patented PR (Particularly Resistant) 516 Tissot is precisely that; a sturdy automatic timepiece ideal for daily wear. This model bears all three attractive marks on the dial: VISODATE calendar complication, SEASTAR denoting a sea-friendly waterproof class of watch, and of course the PR516 Particulary Resistant case. The dial is in near-perfect condition. Applied steel indices sit on a wicked cool blue dial that in the right light takes on an almost volcanic ash tone. The automatic movement is a reliable AS 2066 calibre Swiss made automatic movement, and the serial number points to a 1969 production date.
About Tissot
Tissot SA is a Swiss luxury watch brand, founded in Le Locle, Switzerland by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son, Charles-Émile Tissot, in 1853.
Tissot merged with watch company Omega SA in 1930, forming SSIH (Société Suisse pour l’Industrie Horlogère), and Tissot-Omega watches from this era are much sought after by collectors. Tissot is an official timekeeper for the world championships in cycling, motorcycling, fencing and ice hockey, and was also a sponsor for the Formula One car-racing teams Lotus, Renault, and Sauber.
