Key Features
This stunning 1970’s ANKRA divers watch is really something else. The blue velvet dial tone satisfyingly matches the dark blue tone of the genuine leather, 20 mm strap. The glow of the lume dots on the indices and lume hands is strong and efficient – barely fading over the years. The watch also possesses a quite rare feature of a tachymeter scale on the rotating bezel. Another unusual feature is the “PRESSION BACK” system stainless steel caseback. The caseback still holds the pressure, and has passed a 3 ATM test despite its almost 50 years of age!
Everything is in great overall condition: with the case is barely worn, apart from just one distressed scratch on the dial, and at 38mm, it is a great size, pleasant to wear.
About Ankra Germany
The ANKRA brand left a legacy of great quality timepieces including chronographs, diving watches, and some special editions like parking timers, chiming clocks, etc (see examples and adverts). They utilised Swiss, German and French made movements. Models in the ANKRA catalogue were numbered, this particular model is No. 53.
