An elegant and characterful 1960s Oris Super with a warm chocolate-tone dial, 10-micron gold-plated case, and the in-house Oris calibre 482KIF movement inside. This is a compact vintage dress watch with a strong period look: warm gold case, dark dial, raised gold indices, luminous details, and slim central seconds.
The matte chocolate dial gives this watch a particularly attractive appearance. Depending on the light, it shifts between deep brown, almost black, and warm tobacco tones. Combined with the gold-plated case and raised faceted markers, the watch has a richer and more unusual look than a standard silver-dial dress watch of the same period.
About Oris “Super” series
The Oris Super line represents an important and very recognisable part of mid-century Oris production. These watches were practical, honest Swiss wristwatches with distinctive in-house Oris movements and strong dial design. They were never trying to be high-luxury chronometers; instead, they offered durable, accessible Swiss watchmaking with plenty of personality – exactly why these pieces remain interesting today.
This watch is fitted with the Oris 482KIF, a manually wound in-house movement with 17 jewels and KIF shock protection. More importantly, it uses a proper ruby jewelled Swiss lever escapement rather than the pin-lever system found in many lower-grade vintage Oris watches. After servicing, the movement performs as a reliable and enjoyable everyday vintage calibre, while retaining the appeal of a true period Oris manufacture movement.
