2.1353 ORIS SUPER 35mm GOLD PLATED 10 MICRON, SWISS 1960s
£390.00
A charming 1960s Oris Super in a larger 35 mm case, with a beautifully preserved silver-pearl sunburst dial, elegant 10-micron gold-plated case, framed date window, and strong vintage character. This is the classic Oris formula of the period: attractive Swiss styling, reliable mechanics, and very good everyday wearability in a refined dress-watch format.
The 35 mm case, long shaped lugs, and 42.2 mm lug-to-lug length make it feel more substantial on the wrist while still keeping the slim, elegant proportions of a 1960s dress watch.
The dial is the highlight here. It has a soft silver sunburst finish with a fine outer minute track, applied gold indices with black inserts, sharp gold-tone hands, and a framed date aperture at 3 o’clock. One of the unusual details is the precise 1/5-minute dial marking, giving the minute track a very technical, almost instrument-like appearance while preserving the clean dress-watch style.
About Oris “Super”
The Oris Super line represents an important and very recognisable part of mid-century Oris production. These watches were practical, honest Swiss wristwatches with distinctive in-house Oris movements and strong dial design. They were never trying to be high-luxury chronometers; instead, they offered durable, accessible Swiss watchmaking with plenty of personality – exactly why these pieces remain interesting today.
The watch is fitrted with the FHF/ST 1950/51 manual-wind movement, marked Oris Watch Co, Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss. This is a reliable and well-proven Swiss calibre, suitable for daily use.
The date has a semi-quick setting system: turn the hands forward past midnight until the date changes, then turn the hands backwards to about 9:00 PM / 21:00, and repeat the process as needed.
