The Jules Jurgensen Movement
The movement used in this watch belongs to the highest tier of Swiss chronometer production of the late 19th century and was developed by Jules Jurgensen, one of the most respected chronometer specialists of his time. Such calibres were reserved exclusively for precision timekeeping and were often submitted to observatories for chronometric trials.
It features:
- Wolf-tooth winding wheels for smoother and more efficient power transmission
- Cut bimetallic balance with heavy timing screws for precise thermal compensation
- Blued steel hairspring with Breguet overcoil for superior isochronism
- Long pallet fork with extremely fine finishing
- Carefully polished steelwork and beautifully executed nickel bridges
These characteristics place the movement firmly in the category of true marine and observatory-grade chronometers, originally intended for navigation, scientific use, and elite customers. The Hy Moser & Cie shield logo, stamped discreetly on the main plate between the bridges, confirms the movement’s origin and quality.
