A small Omega ladies’ wristwatch from 1950, with a warm gold finish, a cream dial and neatly shaped curved lugs. Thick 80-micron gold plating gives the case an appearance close to solid gold. The dial has clear black Arabic numerals, a fine minute track and gold-tone leaf-shaped hands. Light spotting and an aged cream colour give it a natural vintage character. A domed acrylic crystal follows the rounded lines of the case, while a brown genuine leather strap complements its warm tones.
The inside of the caseback is marked “Plaqué Or L 80 Microns” and bears the Central Watch Case Co stamp, together with the Omega signature and reference 2443-9. These markings are an attractive detail of a watch that remains very well preserved for its age.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition for a watch from 1950. The gold-plated case retains an attractive finish, with light surface scratches and signs of wear visible on close inspection, particularly on the caseback. The cream dial shows scattered age-related spotting, while the numerals and Omega signature remain clearly readable. The domed acrylic crystal is clear. The movement has been serviced and comes with a 12-month movement warranty.
Omega’s official vintage archive lists the base reference DW 2443 in its 1949 collection, with a gold-plated case and calibre 240. The watch offered here is reference 2443-9, dated 1950 and fitted with calibre 244. View reference DW 2443 in the official Omega vintage archive.
The case’s 80-micron gold layer is equivalent to 0.08 mm. This substantial covering gives the watch its rich gold appearance, while the internal stamp clearly identifies the case as gold-plated.
