A sharp and unusually architectural late-1960s automatic from ARSA / Auguste Reymond. The “Florida” was presented at the Swiss Watch Fair in 1969, and the period description already placed it firmly in the modern design language of the time: a Unicoque / monobloc water-resistant case, rounded lines, short integrated-style lugs, and faceted onyx-inlaid hour markers on a silvered dial.
This example has exactly that restrained 1969 charm: a brushed stainless steel cushion case, clean silver sunburst dial, framed date window at approximately 4:30, and bold applied markers with black inlays. It is not loud, but it is very distinctive – one of those watches where the design gets better the longer you look at it.
About ARSA / Auguste Reymond
ARSA stands for Auguste Reymond S.A., a Swiss manufacturer whose history began in 1898 and which became closely associated with reliable, well-made Swiss watches from Tramelan in the Bernese Jura. The brand is still remembered by collectors for practical vintage models, including automatics, calendar watches, military-style pieces, and specialist watches such as Braille/tactile models.
Case, dial, and details
The stainless steel monobloc case is one of the main attractions here. Instead of a conventional screw-back case construction, this “unishell” style was designed for improved sealing and a smoother, more integrated profile. The caseback is marked STAINLESS STEEL – WATERPROOF – AUTOMATIC – SWISS MADE – INCABLOC, with the ARSA crest and reference 62777.
Silver sunburst finish, applied block markers, black printed minute track, and a framed date aperture set diagonally between 4 and 5 o’clock. The lower dial is marked T SWISS T, indicating tritium luminous material.
