A charming early Tudor dress watch from the mid-1950s, built in the classic Tudor/Rolex way: Swiss movement and dial identity, paired with a British-made, hallmarked 9K gold case carrying Rolex Watch Co. (R.W.Co Ltd) marks. The design is vintage elegance – small seconds at 6, a balanced dial with applied Arabic numerals and triangular wedge markers, and the unmistakable Tudor rose signature.
A very attractive vintage example with the right kind of honest age. The dial is clean and highly legible with strong applied elements and crisp printing. The gold case presents beautifully with light wear consistent with careful use (see photos). The movement is in excellent working order.
This watch is cased in solid 9K gold (0.375) and bears Chester Assay hallmarks dating the case to 1954 – a strong and reliable reference point for UK-cased vintage watches. Inside the caseback you will find the R.W.Co Ltd stamp, the classic Rolex Watch Co. maker’s mark used on Tudor cases, confirming the Rolex-linked case manufacture and the watch’s UK-market origin.
The case also carries a serial number #185479. Online serial tables can be approximate and sometimes point to a slightly later year (often seen around the mid-1950s), but the Chester hallmark year (1954) is the most dependable dating anchor.
