About Venus
Founded in 1902 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, VENUS was established by watchmakers Paul Arthur Schwarz and Olga Etienne-Schwarz. Initially producing watches under multiple brand names, VENUS soon distinguished itself for its refined design and technical expertise. By the 1930s, the company had begun manufacturing chronograph movements, some of which remain influential in modern watchmaking.
Throughout the mid-20th century, VENUS gained international recognition for its craftsmanship, winning awards such as first prize at the 1950 Basel Fair. Its watches were worn by notable figures, including Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev and Hollywood actress Jayne Mansfield. The brand expanded globally, offering a diverse range of timepieces. However, like many traditional watchmakers, VENUS faced challenges during the quartz revolution of the late 20th century, leading to a decline in production.
In 2011, VENUS was revived with the launch of the GENESIS collection, combining Swiss watchmaking heritage with contemporary technology. Now based in Geneva, the brand continues to produce automatic and quartz watches, drawing inspiration from its historical roots and celestial namesake.
