Vintage 1960’s German-made wristwatch with an in-house automatic shockproof movement, made by the famous Glashutte Original brand who are known for their highly appreciated and valuable watches. The GUB 68.1 caliber was in production from 1960 to 1967, and this timepiece has an original ‘GUB’ shockproof device that was implemented in 1962, dating the watch to 1962-67.
In great mechanical condition, and runs well. There is a slight noise made by the self-wind mechanism that you can sometimes hear when wearing the watch, but it still works well and when worn for the whole day builds up enough energy to run well. Although we do recommend winding the crown 3-5 turns at the end of the day – luckily the winding crown is comfortable and easy to operate. Apart from this feature, a 6-month guarantee is provided for all other functions.
About Glashutte
Glashütte Original (Glashütter Uhrenbetrieb GmbH) is a German manufacturer, created in 1990 from the VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe and privatised in 1994 when it was sold to Heinz W. Pfeifer and Alfred Wallner. Glashütte Original has been the brand name since 1994.
The company is known for their extremely complicated PanoRetroGraph watch, which features a panorama date and fly-back function, and won them Watch of the Year in 2001.
Glashütte Original became part of the Swiss Swatch Group in 2000, and is still a well-known and successful top-quality manufacturer to this day.
Servicing and Guarantee
This timepiece has been serviced with full disassembly. There is a 6-month guarantee, subject to the usage and care guidelines (the guarantee does not cover the slight noise from the self-wind feature). The watch comes with an 18 mm dark red genuine leather strap.
