About Mougin Piquard
Mougin Piquard is an interesting French brand founded in 1852, famous mostly for their ELIX railroad and diving watches. Watches bearing names of the brand founders are scarce, and rarely found.
The Elix brand has a long history, being over 150 years old. The Mougin-family began producing watches under the “Elix” brand name in 1852 in the city of Besancon, France. In 1927 the company was taken over by Ernest Mougin and Paul Piquard, who continued the production of Elix watches as well as using their own names “Mougin Piquard”.
From 1980 the brand “Elix” seems to have disappeared from the market, although many “Mougin Piquard” watches with quartz movements from this period can be found.
