This vintage pocket watch is from Tissot – the Swiss brand that everybody knows. The dial has an interesting mod-type design in a rare solid stainless steel case, this alloy is difficult to handle in production and solid steel cases were 2-3 times more expensive than chrome plated brass cases during the period that this timepiece was made. The case has an interestingly shaped ring, which adds to the 50’s vibe of the whole design.
Key Features
Stylish pocket watch with high grade movement finishing, beige-tone dial, a particularly large timepiece at 47 mm! The model code 982-9 is stamped inside the caseback, while the serial number 3531685 points to a 1956 production year. This watch is sleek and fashionable, and in very good condition.
About the Brand
Tissot SA is a Swiss luxury brand, founded in Le Locle, Switzerland by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son, Charles-Émile Tissot, in 1853. Tissot merged with watch company Omega SA in 1930, forming SSIH (Société Suisse pour l’Industrie Horlogère), and Tissot-Omega watches from this era are much sought after by collectors.
