Key Features
An interesting part of Mondaine’s history, the manufacturer seems to have found their brand identity in the classic Mondaine railway watch and has since stopped experimenting with watches such as this diver. It has a sturdy waterproof cushion case that’s waterproof up to 3ATM, with a large and tactile winding crown on the side. The dial is a matte dark-grey/black, with writing and lume around the minute track in great condition. Interestingly, the baton style hour and minute hands have 2 lume segments in them. An Arabic 12 numeral sits at the top.
About Mondaine Watch Ltd.
Mondaine Watch Ltd. is the Swiss manufacturer of the iconic Mondaine watch brand, founded in 1951 by former tailor Erwin Blenheim in Zurich, Switzerland. Originally based on Swiss railway clocks, the Mondaine had the unique feature of second markers that only went up to 58. The second hand would pause for 2 seconds at the 12 position, giving the effect of time standing still momentarily. Though briefly discontinued in 2001, the movement was redesigned and brought back in 2013 under the name ‘stop2go’. The Mondaine design is characterised by its highly legible, clean white dial and red lollipop second hand, and chunky black indices.
Today, Mondaine Watch Ltd continues to manufacture the redesigned stop2go model, as well as the Tritium-powered Luminox range of timepieces, which was purchased by Mondaine Watch Ltd. in 2006.
