A striking and futuristic jump-hour wristwatch from the mid-1970s, showcasing bold Space Age design and an unmistakable digital-mechanical display. With its oversized case and deep dark-red dial, this Kiple represents the experimental spirit of French watchmaking during the quartz transition era.
With its generous 38 × 40 mm case, this Kiple has a commanding wrist presence typical of 1970s experimental design. The clean, horizontal dial layout and digital windows give the watch a distinctly modernist character, while remaining fully mechanical – making it especially appealing to collectors of avant-garde vintage watches.
The watch is offered in very good vintage condition. The case retains excellent presence with light surface wear consistent with age. The domed mineral crystal is clear and complements the strong curvature of the case. The dial is particularly attractive, with rich coloration and crisp apertures for the hour and minute displays.
The movement has been professionally serviced, is functioning correctly, and is supplied with a 12-month mechanical warranty.
This watch features a true mechanical jumping-hour complication, where the hour disc advances instantaneously as the minute disc completes its 60-minute cycle. Inside is the robust and well-regarded France Ebauche FE 238A, a proven French “workhorse” movement adapted here for digital display.
To preserve the longevity of the jump-hour mechanism, the hour and minute discs must be set forward only.
