A notable feature of this collectible timepiece is its luminous dial, adorned with the rare Promethium-147 isotope markers near the numerals 5 and 7. Unlike conventional luminous compounds, Promethium-147 offers a unique glow and was considered one of the most exclusive options available. With a total mass of less than 1 kilogram on Earth, Promethium is a rare element, with Pm-147 being a byproduct of uranium and plutonium production.
Despite its rarity, Promethium-147 emits weak beta radiation and poses no risk to wearers due to its natural decay, with a half-life of only 2.6 years.
Zentra, a German watch brand established in 1927, faced a downturn in the 1980s but resurged in 2001. Originally founded as Markenuhren-Verein in 1924, the company transitioned to ZentRa, focusing on building its presence across Germany. Zentra watches, known for their reliability, used German and Swiss components and competed with brands like Dugena. After World War II, Zentra relocated to Cologne and continued to thrive, catering to the middle class. However, it succumbed to the quartz crisis in the 1980s. While an attempted revival failed, the brand was revitalized in 2001 by RS-Handelsgesellschaft. It later became a companion brand to Javelle and Elysee, predominantly using Japanese movements. In 2010, under Jürgen Schreitling, Zentra production returned to Germany, with a separate Swiss-made brand, ZentRa Savoy, established.
