Movement & Technical Notes
The watch is powered by a large Swiss mechanical movement with an eight-day power reserve. From one full winding, the mechanism is capable of running for approximately a week without stopping.
As is characteristic of this antique long-duration movement, practical rate stability is strongest during the first one or two days after winding. As the mainspring gradually unwinds and its torque decreases, the watch begins to lose time. It should therefore be regarded as a fascinating functional antique rather than a modern precision timekeeper.
The watch has been regulated and tested in the dial-up position, which is also its most natural working position when used as a desk watch or horological paperweight.
