Key Features
A gorgeous moderately large pocket watch conversion project straight from our workshop. This ‘Suburban’ Military style watch sports a rare gong and hammer alarm function, freshly relumed non radioactive numerals, and a beautiful display back. The original enamel dial features a running seconds subdial and alarm setting subdial, all beautifully crisp and legible. The same can be said of the numerals which we have removed the radium from, repainted with non-radioactive lume, and aged to look authentic.
Here’s a brief set of instructions on using the watch functions:
- Wind up the movement – turn crown clockwise.
- Set time – pull out the crown, set time forward only.
- Wind up the alarm – push/hold right pusher, wind up with crown
- Set alarm time – push/hold left pusher, turn crown to set it to desired hour.
It’s worth mentioning that the alarm can potentially sound 5-10 minutes in advance of its intended hour. Such is the case with mechanical movements, they’re never as accurate as digital! Much less a watch from the 1920’s. In spite of this, it is a truly marvellous piece of horological technology, and we have had a pleasure converting it into a wearable timepiece.
