1043. Omega Watch 2300/5, Steel, 31.5 mm, Switzerland circa. 1944

A small, comfortable watch from the famous Swiss manufacturer Omega. The one-piece, solid steel body looks perfect after polishing.

Note the dial with a rare combination of Roman numerals and phosphor. The old radium phosphor had blackened and faded, and so new luminous phosphor was applied without radiation later on.

Also interesting is the technical design of the mechanism – the “tonneau” shape (“tanno”, barrel) of the in-house Omega caliber with manual winding, is housed in a round case. The mechanics are in perfect condition, everything works, the watch ticks loudly and counts the time correctly. According to the Omega movement number catalogue, the serial number corresponds to production year 1944.

The size of the case is small (diameter 31.5 mm) and would suit both men’s and ladies’ formal attire. In person it looks even better and more interesting than in the photo.

Classic strap with a width of 16 mm (can be replaced with a different one), also in almost perfect condition (see photos).

  • Diameter without crown 31.5 mm.
  • Width with crown 33.5 mm.
  • Height of the lugs is 38 mm.

The dial is original metal, with thick Roman numerals (filled with phosphor), with a badge and the signature OMEGA. Steel blue hands with phosphor, and small second display. Antique, convex glass. In close to perfect condition.

The movement is of a relatively rare caliber ‘Omega R17. 8SC’, anchor escapement with 17 ruby jewels. Plates and bridges in the signature rose gold, wheels with ray precision-grinding. The bridges are signed OMEGA and have a serial number. Manual winding, power reserve of about 40 – 45 hours. In close to perfect condition, with ideal accuracy. The whole things shines and shimmers!
